Business Lessons I've Learned From Dogs!!!
For most of my 50 plus years, I've lived with dogs. They have played many different roles in my life:
friend, therapist, surrogate sibling at times. I actually think my parent's favorite child was the dog. Here are just a few examples of lessons that I've learned from dogs.
**Always greet customers with excitement and enthusiasm, even when you just saw them three minutes ago. They never grow tired of thinking they are the most
important thing in your life.
**Don't confuse your tail with a goal worth chasing.
**Don't be afraid to get dirty, in fact, relish it.
** When the big folks are feasting, if you know how to work things, you'll be able to feast, too.
**Barking a lot is annoying, so don't do it often. That way, when you do bark, people might spring to attention.
**Don't bark at the mailman, he's been known to have a dog treat in his pocket.
**Biting someone never leads to anything good.
**Continuously learning new tricks keeps you young.
**The joy is in digging the hole, not in hiding the bone. But it's also reassuring to know there are a few hidden bones.
Anyway enough of that but I think there are some analogies that we all can benefit from. The New Year's Roping at the The Ranch in Loveland was a huge success.
Next year, however, I think we need to rename the New Year's Roping "The Brian & Jill Taylor Benefit". They both roped outstanding to say the least.
Jill and Brian each won five ropings as well as placed along the way. Along with a large amount of cash, they went home with two saddles and four winter coats.
Way to go Taylors!!
On Monday Dec. 31st at our customer appreciation roping the13pt roping had 43 teams with a payout of $7,307. The 11pt roping had 62 teams with a payout of
$10,538, and the 9pt roping had 46 teams with $7,818 being paid out. Thanks to all the ropers that attended this event.
We are finalizing plans as this is written for
our URP Finals to be held at The Ranch in Loveland, Colo., on Memorial weekend 2008. I think you all will like what is coming. Next in line for our events are Castle
Rock on Jan 26 and 27 and then back to the Event Center in Denver for our USTRC roping on Feb 8 - 10. New for us this year will be the first weekend in March at
Penrose stadium in Colorado Springs. This venue has hosted many large ropings in the past. I can assure all of you that we are working as hard as we can to bring
you the best ropings possible at the finest venues that are available.
Please check our NEW WEBSITE for much info on schedules, sponsors, and much more.
